The Maori word Kowhaiwhai refers to a traditional red, white and black colored pattern. These colors resemble the origin of the Maori tribes and were commonly found on rafters and meeting houses. The stories of legendary ancestors are represented by these ancient Maori complex and symmetrical patterns.
This pattern is called the Patiki and is from Pare Hauraki. The design represents the Patiki or flounder and is a symbol of hospitality.
Design Size : 50mm x 270mm - 2" x 11" - Repeating pattern
Ideal for airbrushing, stencilling with soft royal icing, gels or for use in crafts. (water based mediums are recommended only) The 2 part mesh stencils allow perfect placement as the guide cut lines are easily matched up.
Mesh stencils are more labour intensive having 8 processes instead of the 4 that normal stencils take. This is reflected in the price. (a set of Mosaic Lines and Spaces took 16 minutes to cut and a further 63 minutes to weed, back, peel, apply mesh, unpeel backing, trim and package!)
The normal ibicci Cake Stencils measure approximately 11.75"x8.25” / 30x21cm and most stencils are cut to allow stencils to be trimmed as required for placement on the sides and/or tops of cakes. Strip style cake Mesh stencils may be smaller in height then ordinary cake stencils. These should be trimmed with a metal ruler and cutting blade.
Care: Rinse gently with warm water, Do Not use hot water as this may cause warping. Lay flat to dry either smoothing in a clean tea towel or pat dry with paper towels. Ensure they are fully dry before storing. An iron may be used on a very low setting to flatten mesh stencils but care must be taken.
